@courajiskid At the same time, with your front foot, pull upwards...it allows you to not be as forward on the bike. Having a lower gear ratio helps as well because you have to put less effort in and you can just do it by sitting on the saddle. Downside of course being that your top speed takes a big hit. I do it on a 46-17. I did Lands End to? John O'Groats...bottom of England to the top of Scotland...fun stuff.

@knoblauchgourmets Weil er "zu viel Kohle hat", woran ich mal ganz stark zweifle, da er Grafikdesigner ist, heißt das doch noch lange nicht das er nicht fixed fahren darf...er wird wohl auch etwas für seine Bikes gespart haben. Abgesehen davon wird ja wohl jeder Träumen dürfen ( von wegen Loft und so...). Und außerdem redet? er ja nicht "einen vom Pferd" ( von wegen Lebensgefühl und so) weil er sich für " den Sprecher der Szene" oder so etwas hält, sondern vor allem weil er danach gefragt wurde.

However, the currently TRENDY and in vogue fixie is at a very big risk of having the whole bike stolen. Also, have you seen the prices some are commanding? For what? A steel frame with minimal components? The price of any other bike is arrived at via components. A fixie from it's trendyness. It's crazy!

... and as regards the Raleigh Bomber or similar styles, literally the frames were the only thing we'd use, we'd also use roadie frames, the rest we added ourselves and they were? not so different to the modern equivalent. You just never bought them off a pompous bike snob or from a clothes store, you got your hands dirty and made one. The riding principle was the exact same, and we never used brakes. They were for leisure. Commuting is another story, and gears are important.

We used to use them as kids in the 1970's, we built what we called 'trackers'... usually a Raleigh Bomber frame, fixed cog and bullhorn handlebars. I am more than proficient in the art of using one, I just grew out of it in adulthood and realised that gears serve a very important purpose. Especially on hills.

okay so here a thing, Hayley, Sierra, Avril are singers with different voices. Hayley's voice is a bit husky and more whole and poweful when she sings high notes there fore, she's amazing.? Avril is another story, while hayley has a powerful voice, avril has her own way of singing. i can't explain it but she sounds awesome and i like her also. now, sierra here..is another story....again. sierra's voice is more of a calm soothing voice when singing low notes, but very powerful when she belt high

skidding isnt actually as hard as people say it just takes a lot of practice, the quicker your going the easier it is. im 15 and i do skids all the time to stop i dont run a brake and find that i can stop just as well by skidding depending on where my body weight is positioned over? the bike. just pull up on the leading foot and push down on the trailing foot when your cranks are horizontal.

@gp4nut ok cool. I think everyone should try if they like riding bikes. It's a very different and? addictive feeling. Also remember you can have a fixie with a flipflop hub and two regular brakes. If you mount a freewheel cassette on one side and a fixed cog on the other side, you can choose between fixed and freewheel just by flipping the rear wheel. So if you don't like riding fixed, the bike will not be useless.

@gp4nut you may think so. I disagree and I have tried both. Have you? Yes you can rest on a fixie, you just follow the pedals around without mashing = pseudo coasting. Or you click out of the pedals and let your legs hang behind them. I do that all the time. Freewheel + coaster brake is just a regular boring? bike. The fixed gear turns everything into a game and riding becomes much more fun.

Whenever I get on my bike, I have to take in all the responsibilities of what could happen-and sometimes that is rather scary really considering how big of asses some drivers can be. Admittedly, I know a number of dead people who lost their lives on a motorcycle.

@jsshayes1 Although I'm glad they wear them for the most part, I feel that they should wear them in videos to promote safety awareness. I can't necessarily blame children for being raised by role models who don't practice safety. Just yesterday I suffered? a strong concussion when I landed crooked on a dirt jump in my back yard. 30 MPH+a whack on the dirt knocked me out for a moment, even with my helmet on.
